So clearly the rule in church is 'she's about to go on a mission, we should ask her to do everything, she can't say no' as I landed two lessons to teach in Relief Society. Now I love the sisters, but it's so daunting teaching people who have far more experience than you and you can't just engage with a picture to colour in! Just to make things worse- the first lesson was on Chastity!
Luckily, my ward is filled with the most amazing sisters who have saved my lessons with superb participation. This week was no different. In the lesson about Pride I could feel the spirit there, it was like a tangible presence testifying of the truth of everyone's words. We had just heard a talk about the very same talk by President Benson (I guess it is THE talk on the subject) and I could genuinely feel the Lord was giving me the words to say in the very moment I needed them. He will not leave us friendless or speechless!
My stake has also taken it into their heads to start a YSA stake sacrament meeting 3 times a year and so it was double church today. Well at least you can't be tempted to break the Sabbath! We had a wonderful reminder of who Christ is, his role in our lives and how that affects our testimony. So who is Christ?
He is the Son of God, the only one begotten in the flesh. He is also our Brother and Friend, which means we can have a very personal relationship with him. He is the Redeemer of the world, ransoming our very souls at a price. Only by believing in him can we overcome the obstacles of death and sin. He is the Creator of this world, and everything signifies that he is really there. He is our Shepherd, and brings us close to him. He will Comfort us when we faint from trials of life or the guilt of sin. He will wipe away the tears of our sorrows because he has suffered them for us. My favourite title of the Saviour is that he is our Advocate with the father, putting forward our case to claim eternal life.
I'm so excited to be able to share this message with others... and hopefully understand a word they say. Where are the subtitles in everyday life?!
