After a truely 'White Christmas' due to a baptism, not snow this is how Melissa's year began. This was a super week!!! We had an emotional start wherein we were stuck in Correlation meeting for 1 1/2 hours discussing the same old problems “we need home and visiting teachers” “why won't you give our investigators a lift to church?”and then Sister Hansen and I had a good chat, some crying and are now an even closer, super team. It was a hard start, but it was necessary for the rest of the week to go well.
So, we just found loads of great new people this week. After one lesson where we met a new couple we offered to wash their dishes and they actually let us! That is a first right there! Then we contacted a reference from the sisters and she actually loved our lesson. She has some interesting ideas, but it was great to speak with her.
Then we had another hard day when people didn't let us in and we wandered around with our member for a bit, but he found a philosophical guy who was really excited to read the Book of Mormon. It was a slightly tiring conversation, but interesting.
Then Friday of miracles. We had the perfect lesson with our marked family. The 9 year old son wants to serve a mission. They read and pray together every day as a family. Their terror of a 4 year old daughter prayed for us. They all just want to be sealed together in the temple. We are literally doing nothing, they are working it all out for themselves! I love them so much!!! We went straight from there to a lesson with someone who wants to get baptised in March when her contract ends and she can come to church. Our ward mission leader who is basically petrified to teach with us volunteered to make comments and was the most spiritually powerful of all of us.
Finally, on New Years Eve we got the news that we could stay out to see the fireworks. I had to brave calling President to get permission to see them together as missionaries. Then we found a family that are excited to come to church and let us teach them again already!
Although not everything worked out (one lady said she would come to church for the first time and then didn't, because she got in late from new years and then family said they were coming and we got them a lift, but they cancelled) that does not mean that they were not miracles in the first place! Things do not always continue the way we want, but God is still blessing us every day. Com amor, Sister Regan.
